Weekly Update 1 October 2022

Aloha Everyone!

This week sees the Ironman World Champs in Kona, Hawaii and six intrepid Club members are out here for the party – think Avengers Assemble but with jetlag and excess baggage. I can confirm from my bike ride to Captain Cook’s Monument this morning that while it’s not as hot as it was in the UK at the height of the summer heatwave, it’s definitely tropically humid and windy and there is also one heck of a big mountain somewhere in the clouds.

One of the very nice things about being here is the diverse international participation and spirit of community. I had a very nice chat with a Brit from the Cayman Islands while checking out the swim course this afternoon, and some good banter about sweat rates with some Dutch lads out cycling in the wind. Even the pros seem fairly relaxed and happy to exchange a few friendly tips about sighting.

In terms of Club admin a final reminder to log any race results from Club champs races before it’s too late, and also that nominations for our annual awards ceremony on Friday 4 November are now open.

A quick reminder that our AGM is coming up soon on 18 October and get your nominations in for your new Committee. If you have any questions at all in relation to any of the Club leadership roles, then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a great week everyone.

Best wishes
