Can I do a taster session before I join the club?

Yes, we offer a free trial membership to all prospective members, allowing you to attend as many training sessions as you want over a 2-week period. Prior to signing up please take a look at our training calendar to ensure that you make the most out of your trial membership.

How do I book a trial session?

Once you have signed up for a trial membership you can book sessions via the club calendar on the website.

You will receive an email confirming your booking. The coach at the session will also have a record of this so will know to expect you but please make yourself known.

Come to the session

When you arrive at the session tell the person at reception that you are with OxfordTri and they will direct you to where the pool/studio etc. is. Our coaches will usually be wearing a blue OxfordTri coaches t-shirt so they should be easy to spot. At track sessions they usually meet outside the premises or on the far side of the track.

I’m a beginner/novice, is the club for me?

Absolutely! We’re a very friendly club and cater for all abilities – if you’re new to sport/triathlon, just go at a pace that is comfortable for you. All swim sessions cater for different ability groups (fast lane down to slower and improvers lane). This allows for those that are less confident/experienced to  build their fitness and technique whilst the faster swimmers can work on their endurance.

I’m good on the bike and at running but can’t swim properly, is triathlon for me?

Yes, many a member have been in the same position. There is usually one discipline which we are all less competent at – please do not let this put you off! We offer an inclusive and supportive atmosphere atb all of our sessions where members can build their confidence and their fitness in a fully supportive and fun environment.

I don’t run or cycle but really love swimming, can I still join OxfordTri?

Yes! We understand that not everyone loves all three disciplines. Some of our members only wish to participate in one or two of the sports – and that’s absolutely fine with us, it’s not compulsory to do all three.

I’m training for an Ironman – is OxfordTri for me?

Yes. OxfordTri is suitable for more experienced athletes who are working towards long distance events. There is a wealth of knowledge and help available from our coaches and members alike.
