Nominate your Member of the Month, Open Water Familiarisation, Oxford Aquathlon

Hello OxfordTri Family!

Firstly, apologies that this is later than usual and as a result I’ll keep this brief. Big news from this week is that our Open Water Familiarisation sessions are now live! These are hugely important sessions for the club as they are an amazing way to bring non members into our sessions and to support the club financially. More information will be shared below.

Secondly this month we are going to Trial asking you our members for nominations with regards to our Member of the Month so do be thinking about who you might want to nominate!

Finally we have our committee meeting on Monday so if there is anything that you would like to raise or feedback about the club please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the email address below.

I hope you have a great weekend and look forward to seeing you at some sessions next week.

God Bless

Open Water Swim Familiarisation Sessions

We are delighted to share that OxfordTri’s Open Water Familiarisation Sessions will be returning in May 2024!

For over 10 years our fully qualified coaches have helped 100s of athletes develop their confidence in open water, helping them see the swim leg in a triathlon as an experience to look forward to rather than dread.

Located at the Queenford Lake just south of Oxford, these sessions are designed for anyone who can confidently swim in a pool. Whether you’re new to swimming in open water, felt overwhelmed in the past, or are looking to refine your skills with expert guidance – this is the place for you!

Over the four weeks our sessions will include focusing on helping you acclimatize to the water, mastering breathing techniques, and becoming comfortable with having your face in the water. Our goal is to have you feel more confident swimming in open water and equipped with the skills to conquer the triathlon swim leg or simply enjoy more open water swimming.

Oxford Aquathlon

We have shared over the past couple of weeks about our Aquathlon that we are partnering with British Triathlon and their “Swim Bike Run” program to run here in Oxford at the Leys Pool and Park.

The Aquathlon will take place on the 28th of April with racing starting at 9am. The format is a 200m Pool Swim and 3km Run. The entry will cost £20 making it an incredibly accessible event to our local community of Oxford and beyond.

We are now at the point where we are really seeking to get the word out. Over the next couple of weeks we will try to get fliers to all of our sessions so please do be thinking if you could possibly put some up at work, your local cafe or perhaps even hand out to a couple of neighbours who might be interested. We also have information about the event on social media the internet so find some links below that you could also share. Also a little shout out to the ladies who are bossing it atm with over 80% of our current sign ups being women!
