Weekly Update 26 February 2021

Hi Everyone

February has shot by and Spring is in the air! Looking forward to putting away the vitamin D tablets and doing some good long outdoor rides in shorts this weekend.

Following the latest from Boris this week about the roadmap to relaxing lockdown restrictions during March the committee are meeting on Monday to ensure we hit the ground running with the resumption of training sessions as soon as allowed. Having set ourselves up last year to hold Covid compliant sessions with track and trace registrations we are all excited to be able to offer club members opportunities for coached sessions once more, starting with outdoors sessions initially of course. If there are any other matters you want the committee to consider please feel free to drop me an email over the weekend.

Whilst international racing this year is still very much hanging in the balance depending on travel restrictions, it seems very likely that domestic racing is now going to go ahead in the second half of 2021. The first event in this year’s club champs is the Chilly Duathlon now rescheduled for 11 April. Places are likely to fill up for the races that are able to go ahead this year so book early to avoid disappointment, and even if you’re feeling some way off peak fitness get some training targets in the diary to help with motivation and commitment.

Next week in addition to the usual sessions we have the next round of virtual bike racing against Swindon and Leighton Buzzard Tri clubs, this time a criterium circuit of hilly Yorkshire. Also coming up on Sunday 7 March we have our next club quiz and social evening, I’m full of nervous anticipation for Chris Hemmingway’s music round!

Advance notice that now Rebecca has recovered from Covid Tuesday yoga will be returning from 9 March, at the slightly earlier time of 18:30.

Any questions, as ever just ping me.
