It’s hard not to be in a good mood with all this lovely sunshine!
In spite of the frost this morning on my dog walk, the temperature at Dorchester Lake is now well over 13 degrees and so all is on for open water swimming tomorrow morning. There are still 10 places available as at the time I’m writing this update, so feel free to sign up.
As more swim sessions come online, please be considerate of other club members and not book for every session at the exclusion of others who are not able to sign up in the first few minutes. We’ll be keeping a sharp eye out at bookings and behaviours!
Our brand new kayak arrived today, and I’m looking forward to a paddle whilst doing some safety sessions. While I do anticipate higher venue and operating costs and so it’s a real relief and privilege to be in a strong financial position, if there are other areas you’d like us to invest some of the surplus from last year, then please let me know.
We’ve still been holding our new HIITs sessions but we had to cancel last week’s morning session as there were no takers. Use it or lose it folks …
If you can’t get into sessions then there is some good news that Blackbird Leys pool is now open after over a year being closed – and they have lots of swim lane sessions and capacity (I’m about to go after I’ve written this). It’s quite expensive at £8 for an hour’s swim but I think that’s the way things are going and it does highlight what really excellent value the Club membership is.
Another Club membership benefit to remind you of is the gym membership at Oxsrad – £4.80 PAYG for a really quiet and well-equipped venue and also great to support a really important community charity partner.
