With the Queen’s funeral on Monday and a Bank Holiday there’s obviously no official Club sessions. It’s been interesting watching the issues created by British Cycling first recommending that members don’t go out cycling at all on Monday out respect, and then being forced into a U turn at the backlash. I am sure that whatever our respective position on the monarchist / republican spectrum we will take a few moments on Monday to reflect on a long, successful and eventful life led by our former head of state, and wish the new King every success going forwards.
With a distinct feel of autumn in the air, it’s been time to call time on our outdoor open water swim sessions at Queenford Lake. From a personal perspective they have been a great initiative and a huge benefit to members, and I am sure the new committee will look to continue and grow that relationship next season. As ever, all feedback very welcome. Huge thanks again to committee member Grace for her hard work to arrange those new sessions.
We now move back to our pool sessions with an amazing regular line up of four sessions available to members each week (no Abingdon next Monday of course). No excuses for disappointing swim splits next season … sign up, you know you want to!
We are looking at setting up some more regular ride leaders for our Sunday rides, but until then feel free to post a route on the Facebook page or just turn up on spec and make a plan.
Finally, it’s Ironman Italy tomorrow – best of luck to Mark P and coach Sean; enjoy the best post race food and drink in the world and don’t stint on the limoncello!
Have a great week everyone.
