Good Evening Oxford Tri Family,
I hope that this finds you well. Firstly, an apology that this is late. I am without my laptop due to it breaking thus have been trying to do this via my phone which has proved challenging.
The big and main announcement of this week is that I am delighted to confirm that the Oxford Tri Club Triathlon will be taking place on 29th of May. There has been a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes and we are now in a position where we are about to open entries and publicise the event next week. It has been a number of years due to COVID since we have run this event however, we are determined to get it back up and running.
As highlighted in previous emails to make an event like this happen we need volunteers to help with marshalling and a number of other roles. We are looking for roughly 30 volunteers to ensure that we can put on an amazing and safe event. Please do consider if you could volunteer yourself and give back to the club and local triathlon community. At the moment we are looking for people to marshal between roughly 8am till 1:30pm. In the coming days we will be sharing a link where you can sign up to volunteer. Even if you can only volunteer for a couple of hours on the 29th of May any help is greatly appreciated.
It is also important to highlight that this event helps significantly to financially support us as a club this impact you as members and it’s part of the reason why we have managed to keep membership costs a such a low level and are able to invest in improving your experiences as members.
Finally, we are offering adults who volunteer at the event who are not part of the club a swim pass which will allow them to attend three club open water swims at Queenford Lake in June. I think this is a great incentive along with the post event alcoholic beverage. So please do think about friends, family, colleges, pretty much anyone whom you think might be interested in volunteering and share the link once it is out.
Also if you have any skills or connections to companies that might be able to assist us in running this event then please do let me know via the chair email.
That is all from me at the moment however I do have one final ask and that is that where possibly you like and share and social media in relation to the triathlon that will be appearing over the next coupe of months.
With our first Oxford Tri Club Championships race taking place next weekend at the Chilly Duathlon which you can still sign up to here . There are a few additional updates that we would love to share with you.
Firstly, Banbury Triathlon which is a 750m Swim, 20km Bike and 5km Run taking place on the 14th of May is now open for entries. As a club we have secured a discount which can be found in the ‘Partners and Discounts’ section on the website. Entry to the event can be found here.
Secondly Reading Triathlon have confirmed their race for the 3rd of September we are just waiting to confirm which distance will be part of our championships and if there is the potential for any form of discount. For the mean time be sure to get this date in the diary.
XC Post Race Social
After the XC athletes have raced at Henley next Sunday were are planning on having a social get together at The Cheese Shed in Nettlebed at approximately 1:30pm. Even if you are not racing you are more than welcome to join us for some amazing cheese toasties and cake. I was thinking thats this might be a great place to stop for those regular weekend rides. If you are planning on joining us do let me know via the chair email.
