For the Love of Tri – Oxford Tri Newsletter

Good Evening Oxford Tri Family,

I hope that this finds you all well. This week has been a busy one for me or certainly it has felt that way since coming back from Portugal. I do shift work which I find lends itself well to the sport of triathlon as it gives me the flexibility to train when I have time. On Monday afternoon I decided to venture out in the beautiful sunshine on my bike. I completed about 40km and had a lovely time, however at the end of the ride I found myself outside Tesco with a 4 pack of Magnums and yes you know what’s coming next.. When I got home Magnum-less I have to admit that I was a little disappointed in myself, however as I reflect on it more and more I realise that for this season in life I have absolutely no desire to be a lean mean triathlete and this is ok. I am reminded that one of the great things about Oxford Tri is that we have so many different members at different points in their sporting endeavours with many different motivations and goals. We are well and truly a club that has all form of athlete and I think this is something to be incredibly proud of. So thank you for being part of this swim, bike, run family.

A big welcome to the Ox Tri family to the two people who have joined the club this week, we are delighted to have you on board and please do make yourself known to the coaches and other members as you take part in sessions over the next couple of weeks and if there is anything that I can help with please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me directly.

Below are some headlines of things to be aware of which are going on in the club and as always have a great week.

God Bless

Chilly Duathlon

The this is the last call for the Chilly Duathlon which is also taking place on the 5th of March near Chippenham at Castle Combe Race Track. This is our first Club Championship Event of the year and we have already have an amazing number of Oxford Tri members signed up and it would be awesome to see even more! The course is fantastic you run around the outside of the racetrack and then you cycle on it. Trust me you won’t cycle on a better surface this year and this an amazing event if you have never tried anything like it before. The only possible downside, it can get a bit cold and windy.

We have also secured a club discount code to enter which can be found here along with details of the Club Championships. If transport would be an issue, please do get in touch with me at chair@oxfordtri.co.uk

Parkrun

Recently we adopted Horspath Parkrun as a kinda home Parkrun. This means that there are always several members who take part in the 5km run next to Horspath Track. Some are there to hit new PB’s, whereas others just enjoy a little conversation and catch up as they jog around. This is a great way to meet members if you are new to the club. After the run we head into the café for a nice big slice of cake and a warm beverage. Why not join us this Saturday at 9am? We also love to see people repping some Oxford Tri Kit.
