Oxford Aquathlon and some Blenheim opportunities

Hello OxfordTri Family,

I hope that you have had a good week and that you are looking forward to the weekend. I’ll keep this part relatively short as I’ve got a few bits and bobs to do before tomorrow sessions at the Lake where we are thrilled to be joined by 56 people who have signed up for our coached open water sessions. Also another noted that our club social swims also start tomorrow, apologies for the lack of communication with this. We are trialing a new sign in system for our club swims so please to bare with those volunteering and helping out.

Finally, a massive thanks to those of you whom volunteered last week at our Oxford Aquathlon. We’ve had some amazing feedback largely focused on how supportive and encouraging out volunteers were.

Have a great weekend and see you at a session soon.

God Bless

Craig

Oxford Aquathlon

Last Sunday we had 23 individuals take part in our Oxford Aquathlon as supported by British Triathlon. Weather conditions were less than ideal but both participants and marshals were outstanding here is some feedback from the day along with some excellent photos.

“The marshalls were really encouraging and friendly and I felt well supported all the way. Thank you for organising an awesome event. “

“Tremendous support from the Marshalls around the running track. They seemed happy to stay as long as required for me to complete my run.”

“Everyone was so welcoming and kind! This was my first event and I was very apprehensive and nervous but I was immediately welcomed and the registration team made sure I had everything I needed and I knew where I was going. The event was really well organised and transparent, making it an excellent event for people looking to try something new. I had an amazing time and did much better than I anticipated! Thank you to everyone who organised the event and to the volunteers who cheered me on!”

Blenheim Palace Open Water Swim Opportunity – Mark Ryan

I’m very excited to announce that on the 21st May – I’ll be running an open water swim sesison starting at 6pm.  What an amazing opportunity to swim in the Blenheim Lake – especially if you’re taking part in the Blenheim Triathlon this year.  When sign up opens very shortly, you’ll be able to sign up via the Nowca ATCiO app (the same app you might use to sign up for Queenford Lake public swims.

Places will go very fast as for this initial session, as were limited to a maximum of 50 swimmers.  We currently posting updates on the session to the NOWCA WILD app and you can search for “Blenheim Interest Group”.

This is a trial session with a view to setting up Blenheim as a permanent open water swim venue, so this is very exciting!!

But it’s not just about being a spectator – as a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the event. From handing out water to directing participants, your contributions will be invaluable in creating an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

But it’s not just about what you can do for the event – volunteering at the Blenheim Triathlon is also a fantastic opportunity for personal growth and development. You’ll gain valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, all while making new friends and connections along the way. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve played a part in helping others achieve their goals.

No matter your background, there’s a place for you on our volunteer team. Whether you’re a student looking to gain experience, a retiree looking to stay active, or simply someone who wants to give back to the community, we’d love to have you on board.

**Note the organisers Motiv Sport have stated they would be willing to offer a free race place on the alternative day if anyone is able to volunteer all day Saturday or the Sunday. So, for example if you volunteered all day Saturday you would get a free place to race on Sunday and vice versa. It important to highlight that if you were to do the whole day you would get plenty of breaks etc.

For those whom the whole days don’t quite work. They have also offered us a free slot per 5 volunteers for the ½ shifts still.
