It seems very hard to believe it but next week brings up the half year.
It’s great to see increasing confidence that July will finally bring back full resumption of ‘normal life’ in the UK although one suspects it will take some months for things to properly settle, and international travel is still highly uncertain for those of us with overseas races coming up in the second half of the year. Still, just got to try not to worry too much about events over which we have no control, and to enjoy the training process and increasing freedom that more and more people getting to double jabbed status brings.
But life is already starting to feel like it’s getting better every week now, and since my road is closed on Sunday I know it’s in a good cause for the Oxford Town and Gown 10k. So annoying that I can’t drive to the lake but good annoying I guess as it’s a sign that things are getting back to normal. Very best of luck for Club members racing.
Speaking of training, it’s great to see track session full last night, our Kidlington swim full this evening, and just one spot left for OW swimming tomorrow morning. The volunteers who organise and coach sessions give so generously of their time and expertise and so please do book sessions up to make them feel some love and appreciation! All included in your Club membership subscription, such amazing value I have to pinch myself sometimes. And a huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers and coaches for making it all possible.
In terms of a social event there will definitely be one, you’ll just appreciate that we want to hold it only once we know for sure it will definitely go ahead (we are not Ironman Corporation in that regard!). Watch out for further announcements in the run up to 19 July.
As a reminder please do take 2 minutes to complete our 2021 member survey. As an incentive all survey participants will be entered into a prize draw for a brand new aerosuit. Alternatively you can remain anonymous if you would like.
Finally many congratulations to Club committee members Jon and Kathy as they welcomed baby Sam into the world this week!
Any questions, as ever just ping me.
