Summer Social and Oxford 1/2 – Oxford Tri Newsletter

Good Evening OxfordTri Family! 

I hope that this finds you well. Firstly a reminder that there will be no lake session this weekend. It was helpfully flagged that in the email I had sent out I had managed to put ‘next’ weekend which is wrong it is just this one tomorrow.

Talking about tomorrow we have three of our amazing ladies; Jane Bell, Grace Gilbert and Cathy Roberts racing at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Lahti, Finland. I’m sure that there will be someone posting regular updates on their progress via the club Facebook Group. From everyone and Oxford Tri we are wishing you the best of luck and will be cheering you on.

Also a massive Shout Out to the 15 Oxford Tri Members who took part in the Oxfordshire Triathlon Last week it was so lovely to see so many club members, all absolutely smashing it.

Summer Social @ The Lake – 30th of August 2023

This is the final call for our Summer Social at the lake where we will have our swimming session including an aquathlon relay from 7-8pm, followed by a BBQ and beverages (non-alcoholic options available). 

The cost for this is just £10 per person, which includes a minimum of 1 burger and 2 beverages. But that’s not all! We encourage you to invite your friends and family to join in on the fun. On this occasion, they will have the opportunity to participate in the 7-8pm swim and aquathlon relay, provided they are adults, capable of swimming 500m unaided, equipped with a Tow Float and Bright Swim Cap, and have signed our disclaimer. 

To ensure we have enough food and drinks for everyone, please sign up below. If you plan on bringing guests, please sign up on their behalf as well. Let’s make this a cracking evening for all!

Oxford 1/2 Marathon Aid Station

On the 15th of October it is the Oxford 1/2 Marathon. The organisers have asked us if we would be up to the challenge of running one of the aid stations. It is the same people who run Blenheim Tri whom a number of us volunteered with earlier in the year and we had a great time. We also had a great opportunity as a result of this to have a stall and help people taking part. As a club we benefit hugely from supporting these kinds of events and it’s also just a great way to give back to our local sporting community.

As mentioned we have been assigned the task of manning the aid station next to the Dragon School on Bardwell Rd. I am trying to finalise timings still but it’s probably going to be approximately 8ish till about 13:30 at the latest.

Lunchtime Sessions – Updated

During our committee meeting it was shared that we had been approached about another strength and conditioning session during a lunch time period. Although this didn’t work for many of the committee we wanted to reach out to you as members to see if there would be any interest in something like this.
