Good Evening OxfordTri Family!
I hope that this finds you well. I don’t know about you but it finally feels like we are getting to see a bit of our Summer.
Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I’ll see those who are swimming at the lake tomorrow morning.
Summer Social @ The Lake – 30th of August 2023
Join us for our Summer Social at the lake where we will have our swimming session including an aquathlon relay from 7-8pm, followed by a BBQ and beverages (non-alcoholic options available).
The cost for this is just £10 per person, which includes a minimum of 1 burger and 2 beverages. But that’s not all! We encourage you to invite your friends and family to join in on the fun. On this occasion, they will have the opportunity to participate in the 7-8pm swim and aquathlon relay, provided they are adults, capable of swimming 500m unaided, equipped with a Tow Float and Bright Swim Cap, and have signed our disclaimer.
To ensure we have enough food and drinks for everyone, please sign up below. If you plan on bringing guests, please sign up on their behalf as well. Let’s make this a cracking evening for all!

Oxford 1/2 Marathon Aid Station
On the 15th of October it is the Oxford 1/2 Marathon. The organisers have asked us if we would be up to the challenge of running one of the aid stations. It is the same people who run Blenheim Tri whom a number of us volunteered with earlier in the year and we had a great time. We also had a great opportunity as a result of this to have a stall and help people taking part. As a club we benefit hugely from supporting these kinds of events and it’s also just a great way to give back to our local sporting community.
As mentioned we have been assigned the task of manning one of the aid stations I am trying to finalise what the shift would look like but it’s probably going to be approximately 7:30ish till about 13:30 at the latest. Again this all depends on which aid station we are on the course be it near the start or the end
Saturday Parking at the Lake
Just a little reminder for those you join us at the lake on Saturday morning for open water swimming. Our hosts they have asked that on Saturday mornings if we could park in the designated open water swimmers carpark.
This parking can be accessed from Drayton Rd. I have included a google maps link here and included a picture below. If you are parking on gravel on Saturday mornings you are in the wrong place and will most likely be politely asked to move (unless you have a valid reason for parking there i.e. Blue Badge). Please, please, please follow this. We have a really good relationship with the lake and would like to keep it this way. They are more than happy for us to park in the gravel car park on the Wednesday nights.
During our committee meeting it was shared that we had been approached about another strength and conditioning session during a lunch time period. Although this didn’t work for many of the committee we wanted to reach out to you as members to see if there would be any interest in something like this. If you would be interested in a lunchtime session please do let us know at email@example.com
