11 August 2022 Update

Hi Everyone

Just a late Thursday update on a couple of things.

Firstly, the sharp eyed amongst you will have noticed that the Queenford open water swim coming up this Saturday is an hour earlier than usual at 7am. This is a one off change due to the lake hosting the national water skiing champs. We are continuing with the two open water sessions per water until the end of August but after that will be guided by Club member sign ups and popularity. Many thanks to the safety volunteers for allowing these sessions to keep running.

Secondly, advance notice that the Annual General Meeting is going to be held on the evening of Tuesday 18 October. There are quite a few vacancies which will need filling including Lead Coach, Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Social Secretary; so there are some key positions which will need some fresh volunteers with energy and enthusiasm to take on the reins come January 2023. Don’t worry there will be a good transition and hand over from the current team … given it a think over the rest of the summer and look out for the call for nominations nearer the time. Feel free to speak to any of the committee in the interim to find out what’s involved.

Finally some great results from Swansea 70.3 last weekend. Congrats once again to Rebecca for fastest overall age group racer, and to Dan and Neil for the World Champs qualifications. Closer to home in London another stunning performance to qualify for the ITU Worlds.

I hope everyone is enjoying the heat wave – be careful though and stay hydrated!
