Weekly Update 8 January 2021

Hi Everyone

Firstly you’ll notice that there is a slightly different look and feel to this week’s newletter as we streamline and take up the functionality of the new website. The membership circulation and website publication are all automatically pulled through now (a boring detail for you but a useful time saver for the author and admins!).

Next, a massive thank you to you all for renewing your membership, rejoining the club, or joining Oxford Tri for the first time in 2021. On behalf of the whole committee and coaching team, we try so hard to put on the very best range of training sessions, virtual engagement and motivational resources for every triathlete, whether a complete novice or world championship qualifier.

However, the most important thing in my view is to engender a supportive and postive community spirit to keep us all fit and sane. The proof of the pudding is whether you – the members – are prepared to part with your hard-earned pounds to join up and then stay with us. We are absolutely determined to make the best of whatever 2021 may bring, and to ensure we as a club deliver value and accountability in that regard. That so many of you have chosen to keep paying your membership in the face of there being no in person training sessions for the foreseeable future shows the strength and depth of the club’s culture and resilence and is hugely humbling.

Moving on to this week’s activities, it’s a huge thank you to the coaching team and all our other volunteers for putting on a session every single day of the week.

Those of us not attempting a dry January should try to keep a clear head for tomorrow morning’s virtual Bike and Run Time Trial. It’s great to see so many signed up for the virtual bragging rights and to set a benchmark to train off for the rest of the winter – and not too late, sign up here.

Finally, it’s starting to get a bit wintry out there. Take care and wrap up warm if you’re out on the road or putting in some base miles on the running trails – and remember, winter miles = summer smiles
